Taste Hungary Wine Workshop {Furmint}

{Introducing Furmint, a Signature Hungarian Wine}

Spend an evening getting to know furmint, one of the most promising native Hungarian grapes. Furmint is best-known for being an important component of Tokaji aszú, but it makes a fine full-bodied dry white wine in itself, most notably in Tokaj and the tiny Somló region. Instructor László Bálint will introduce this varietal, which is rich in aroma, minerality, acidity, and has a good potential for aging.

A versatile terroir wine, different characteristics emerge in the various regions where it is produced. During this workshop we will taste top furmints from two Hungarian wine regions, ranging from bone dry to sweet. We will discuss furmint traditions and history, the current state of furmint, and the hopes of some in the Hungarian wine industry for furmint to become the iconic wine of Hungary. Come discover some new favorite wines, meet some new people, and discover the great variety of Hungarian furmints!
